● Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality's smart city journey started in 2008 with the Disability Services Application and the project carried out within the scope of Social Development category such as health and education. It became official with the "Smart City Protocol" signed with the Public Technology Platform on December 9, 2016.

● Within the scope of the protocol, the goal of determining the Smart City Road Map of Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality and Preparing the Action Plan was set.

● Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality was deemed worthy of the Golden Ant Award with its 'Sakarya Smart City Strategy and Action Plan' project, which is the first in local governments in Turkey.

● Our institution has actively participated in many national and international events such as the International Smart Cities Conference, World Cities Expo, World Smart Cities Summit, World Cities Congress, Smart Future Expo, and has followed up on the work done in this field and presented the work done in our city.

● The work carried out was evaluated by the distinguished jury at the "All Aspects of Urban Transformation Congress" held in Istanbul and our municipality was deemed worthy of the "Smart City Achievement Special Award Based on Urban Strategy".

● Smart Cities Branch Directorate was established, which will organize the strategy development, coordination and consolidation studies of 2022 Smart City studies.
